Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship with Lisa Munoz – From Teenage Tennis to Real Estate Success

From our first encounters back in our teenage years to embarking on successful careers in real estate, Lisa and I have shared countless memories that have shaped our lives.
Meeting Lisa: A Blast from the Past
Lisa Munoz is not just any guest; she holds a special place in my heart as one of my longest-standing friends. Our story begins back in our teenage years when we first met on the tennis courts. Although we weren’t best friends back then, the connection we formed was undeniable. Lisa played for Roosevelt, and I was also part of the tennis team. We both shared a passion for the game, but it was Lisa’s exceptional tennis attire that left a lasting impression on me.
Life’s Unexpected Turns and Career Dilemmas
As time went on, life took us on different paths. Lisa went on to study accounting at UTSA and later UT El Paso. Her journey through the world of finance included working for prestigious companies like Arthur Andersen and Baxter Healthcare. Meanwhile, I pursued my own path in dance before ultimately pivoting to accounting. Little did I know that this mutual career exploration of accounting would lead us to new adventures in real estate.
The Reconnection: A Real Estate Bond
In 2001, fate intervened once again as Lisa and I reconnected in San Antonio. It was a pivotal moment that would shape our professional lives for decades to come. Lisa was contemplating a return to accounting, but I saw her potential in real estate. Encouraging her to get her license and join my team as a buyer’s agent was one of the best decisions I ever made. Lisa’s natural flair for sales and her incredible memory for details made her an instant success. Our team quickly expanded, and soon we had a roster of talented and dedicated individuals.
Traveling Through Life and Shared Adventures
Throughout the years, we’ve shared more than just professional successes. Our friendship extended beyond the workplace as our respective partners, Dave and Nick, became fast friends. From numerous trips to Las Vegas and New York to unforgettable adventures in South Dakota, we’ve created cherished memories together. Those journeys solidified our bond and allowed us to experience the joy of discovery as a group.
Lessons from Friendship and Professional Growth
Lisa’s journey from accounting to becoming a broker at Keller Williams Heritage underscores the potential of reinvention and growth. Her tenure as a broker, where she oversaw hundreds of agents, showcased her ability to adapt and lead. Lisa’s dedication and strong work ethic have been an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with her.
Looking Toward the Future
During our podcast conversation, Lisa shared her thoughts on grandparenthood, her love for travel, and her deep appreciation for Italy. While San Antonio remains her home and sanctuary, she dreams of visiting the beautiful Italian countryside – perhaps even making it her home someday.
